Wasel ("we," "our," or "the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and handle your information when you use our mobile application.
1. Information Collection and Use
A. SMS Data
The App requests permission to read and receive SMS messages (`READ_SMS`, `RECEIVE_SMS`).
- Local Processing: All incoming SMS messages are processed locally on your device. We use an automated pattern matcher to identify transaction receipts from specific financial services (e.g., InstaPay, mobile wallets).
- Scope: We only extract relevant financial information (Amount and Sender). No other personal SMS content is read, stored, or transmitted.
- Explicit Approval: No transaction data is saved to the App's database without your explicit interaction and approval on the "New Transaction Detected" screen.
B. Personal Data & Account Info
- Anonymous Authentication: We use Google Firebase Authentication to assign an anonymous unique ID to your installation. This does not collect your name, email, or phone number.
- Sharing Feature (Opt-in): If you choose to use the "Peer Sharing" feature, your approved transaction data (Amount, Sender, Timestamp) will be uploaded to a secure Firebase database to be viewed by your authorized peer.
C. Analytics and Logs
- Firebase Analytics: We collect basic usage data (e.g., button clicks, screen views) to improve the App's performance. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
- Crashlytics: We collect crash reports to help us fix bugs and improve stability.
2. Data Storage
- Local Storage: Your approved transactions are stored in a secure local database (Room) on your device.
- Cloud Storage: Only if you enable "Peer Sharing," specific transaction details are stored in our secure Firebase database.
3. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:
- Google Play Services
- Firebase (Authentication, Analytics, Realtime Database, Crashlytics)
4. Data Deletion
You can delete any individual transaction or clear your entire local record history through the App's Dashboard. If you have enabled sharing, deleting a transaction locally will also remove it from the shared cloud database.
5. Security
We value your trust in providing us with your information and use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. However, remember that no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes.
